Frequently Asked Questions
Maintaining a vehicle in Michigan is a two-front battle: protecting the exterior from harsh elements and restoring the interior from the wear of daily life. At Shane's Auto Detail, I believe a professional detail starts with total transparency. Whether you are curious about the difference between a ceramic sealant and long-term ceramic coatings, or you need to understand the deep-cleaning process involved in my Signature Premium Interior, I've gathered the most common questions here.
My goal is to give you complete confidence in my protection and restoration packages before ever touching a towel. Don't see your question? Reach out. I'm always happy to answer your questions!
Does your exterior detail include wax?
I actually provide something much better. White traditional car wax has been an industry standard for decades, it simply doesn't stand up to the heat and road salt we deal with in Michigan. Wax sits loosely on the surface and often melts away after just a few weeks or a couple of washes. At Shane's Auto Detail, I have replaced traditional wax with advanced ceramic sealants. These are engineered with SiO2 (silica) technology that chemically bonds to your paint. The result is a much harder, 'glass-like-' barrier that provides superior UV protection, incredible water beading, and durability that lasts for months — not weeks. You get a deeper gloss than wax can provide, with a shield that actually survives the elements.
Do you shampoo the carpets?
I use a much more advanced, dual-stage approach than a traditional shampoo. Depending on the condition of your interior, I utilize two professional methods. Encapsulation Cleaning: For most interiors, I use a high-tech encapsulation cleaner. This 'low-moisture' process surrounds dirt particles and crystalizes them so they can be vacuumed away. It provides a deep clean without soaking the material, allowing for much faster drying times to prevent that 'musty' smell. Hot Water Extraction: For heavy staining or deep Michigan salt crust, I move to professional hot water extraction. This involves injecting heated water and specialized salt-breakers deep into the fibers and immediately vacuuming them out to lift the heaviest grit. By matching the method to your carpets condition, I insure a clean, like-new result while minimizing unnecessary moisture in your vehicle.
